Kathy Tenney started painting professionally roughly nine years ago. She has a large studio space in Ashland, where she tutors on occasion. Although she is self taught, Tenney has studied with several renowned artists at workshops. Two with Gregg Kreutz of the Art Students League in New York City. John Salamien of Duluth, MN and Matt Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona. Most significantly Tenney has spent the past eight years with Frank Lalumia of Trinidad, Colorado whom she considers her mentor via yearly workshops and contact throughout the year. Tenney was honored to be invited to be a guest artist for the American Plein Air Painters of America show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum in Wausua, WI in 2013. Tenney works primarily in oil, working in several genres, still-life, landscape, portraiture and plein air. In addition, she employs a variety of drawing materials producing finished works. Tenney has won numerous local and state awards and her work is included in numerous private collections.
